“The Congressional Prayer Conference of Washington D.C.” and
“The Telephonic Prayer Meeting”
The years were 1998/1999; I had just been convicted of 4 Criminal Misdemeanors, for refusing to kick homeless people out of our First Southern Baptist Church in Buena Park California. We were housing, feeding and telling them about the abundant life that they could have with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Many people across denominational lines were simply telling me I must obey the law.
I could not disobey God’s law and was facing 24 months in Jail. We continued to house, feed and tell people, and still do so today in the name of Jesus. A pastor came by one day and introduced himself as Rod L. Mc Dougal. He told me he had been praying for us and was agreeing with Jesus and us to help the poor and hungry. He then mentioned that he was not Baptist, and was working with Pentecostals and Assembly of God folks, but had loved and worked all over the world with Baptist.
At that time we both sensed that God had brought us together in Jesus to present the Gospel to all. Over the next years we worked to answer Jesus’s call together. In 1999 Rod and I worked together with his contacts with Crystal Cathedral; Feed the Children and our Southern Baptist Convention. After we had worked together for a while; one day in prayer we both agreed that Jesus wanted us to work in our total nation of America.
Rod suggested a trip to D.C. to meet his friend Dick Simmons who had a ministry called “Men for Nations”, that trip turned into many others, and when we visited in D.C. we would reside at Dick’s place to pray and work in D.C. Rod had established a relationship for us with a Senator from his home State, and we began to pray with Members of Congress in both houses as well as the Senate Chaplain.
January 2000 on one of our many trips to pray, Rod shared with me that he felt Jesus wanted us to establish our own organization to include everyone in prayer for “Praying America back to one Nation under God.” I agreed but had a little problem with the title, and Rod simply said PRAY.
I agreed to pray, went to my seat on our return airline trip. I fell asleep and in a dream God told me the title Rod had suggested was of Him. “The Congressional Prayer Conference of Washington D.C. was born, January 2000. Our Conference for 2001 was delayed by one day due to 911.
We have continued to have the Conferences every year, and in 2002 we decided to add to our agenda “Telephonic Prayer Meeting” that would meet daily at 8:00 am D.C. time for 2 hours.
The number for the prayer meeting is 1-712-432-1690 access code 399430#
5 to 7 am PST – 8 to 10 EST
2010 was a tough year, in June of that year Rod died and went home to be with Jesus.October 23, 2010 my wife of 48 years also died and went home to be with Jesus.
I only made one trip to D.C. that year to Pray, and Jesus told me, as Vice President of The Congressional Prayer Conference to appoint myself as Chairman of the Conference.
In 2011 we made a Nationwide Prayer Train Trip as The Congressional Prayer Conference of Washington D.C. from Union Station Los Angeles to Union Station Washington D.C.
While in D.C. on this trip we learned that D.C. was named District of Columbia, after a false god.
As Ambassadors from The Kingdom of Almighty God, we have changed the title to District of Christ based upon The Mayflower Compact statement “for the Glory of God, advancement of the Christian Faith, and the establishment of a righteous body politic” March 15th 2012, The Conference has called, and he has accepted, Dr. Clyde Rivers as the Co- Chairman of the Congressional Prayer Conference of Washington D.C. (District of Christ)
In December 2010 the Conference agreed to pray every day at 9:15 D.C. time, for each of the 50 States by name, and to pray for each of the 100 Senators by their first and last names. It is our goal and vision that someone from each State will be on the line daily to mention their own Senators, but until that happens; members of the Conference and Telephonic prayer warriors will call out in prayer these States and Senators names. It is our plan to hold at least one Prayer Conference in D.C. each Month until Jesus returns Let US pray America back to “One Nation God”
